Magnet schools hold open houses as application period nears

As the magnet school application period approaches, Mobile County Public Schools' nine magnet schools are holding open houses over the next few weeks for prospective students and parents. The application period begins on Oct. 6 at https://www.mcpss.com/magnetapplications.

The schedule of magnet school open house events:

Elementary schools:

Old Shell Road School of Creative & Performing Arts: Sept. 27 (8:30 a.m.), Sept. 29 (3 p.m.)

Eichold-Mertz School of Math, Science & Technology: Oct. 12 (2-4 p.m.), Oct. 13 (8-10 a.m.)

Council Traditional School: Oct. 14 (9 a.m.-noon)

Middle schools:

Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies: Oct. 10 (8-10:30 a.m.), Oct. 19 (3:30-5 p.m.)

Clark-Shaw School of Math, Science & Technology: Oct. 10 (4-6 p.m.)

Dunbar School of Creative & Performing Arts: Oct. 10 (9-11 a.m.), Oct. 19 (3-4 p.m)

Phillips Preparatory School: Oct. 13 (10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m), Oct. 14 (9 a.m.-noon)

Denton Magnet School of Technology: Oct. 18 (3:30-5 p.m.), Oct. 19 (8-10:30 a.m.)

High school:

LeFlore Magnet High School: Oct. 9 (9 a.m.), Oct. 16 (5:30 p.m.)
