Slow Down in School Zones: Classes Resume Monday

With Mobile County Public Schools' 54,000 students set to return to class on Monday, officials urge commuters to slow down in school zones and to watch for students boarding buses.

Drivers may want to leave for work a little early as the traffic will be heavier than it has been all summer. Be especially careful in school zones, as parents adjust to carpool patterns. And remember that Alabama law requires drivers to stop for buses that have their stop-arm out so that students can safely board and unload buses. That includes traffic running on both sides of the road.

Area private schools will be starting soon as well, so drivers should look for those school zones to be enforced in coming days.
